18 Hours of TOCfE Instruction
Prerequisite: None
General Objective: To enable the learner to apply 3 TOC thinking tools to:
- Systematically construct Win-Win solutions to conflicts and decisions
- Prevent conflicts through improved internal and external communication
- Enhance self-efficacy
Specific Objectives:
- Establish criteria of an effective method to resolve conflicts and make good decisions
- Identify the tendencies in attitudes that perpetuate conflicts
- Define a conflict, action or decision through two points of view in a simple, fair and non-provocative way (without blame)
- Differentiate between the concepts of wants and needs in a conflict or decision
- Describe deeper and broader perspectives of all sides of a conflict or decision
- Apply the concepts of the CLOUD to the development of empathy
- Identify and analyze underlying assumptions/inferences between wants and needs in a conflict or dilemma
- Intuitively and systematically identify break-through solutions, actions and decisions that do not compromise needs (Win-Win)
- Evaluate the efficacy of solutions
- Identify the positive effects of an idea or action
- Predict potential negative effects of an idea or action
- Identify and evaluate the assumptions / inferences that explain the connections between actions and consequences
- Create new solutions that can prevent negative consequences of an idea or action
- Prevent conflicts, mistakes and impulsive behaviors by self monitoring actions and ideas
- Clearly state a goal as an Ambitious Target
- Predict obstacles that prevent the attainment of goals/Ambitious Targets and create feasible strategic plans to overcome them
- Logically sequence the tactical steps needed to achieve the target
- Create consensus and collaboration of team members
- Apply the Ambitious Target process to individual and group goals
- Apply the Day to Day Cloud, Negative Branch, Chronic Cloud and Ambitious Target to other authentic situations (transfer of learning)
Qualification: Upon completion of required hours of instruction and examples of each thinking tool, participants will receive a certificate stating they have successfully completed the TACT, Etc. training.
