The TOC Learning Connection
24 Hours of TOCfE Instruction
Prerequisite: None
General Objective: To prepare participants to analyze and communicate topics through the logical concepts of four TOC thinking and communication tools and processes in order to greatly enhance:
- Comprehension of information
- Effectiveness of oral and written communication
- Achievement of Academic Standards and Benchmarks
Specific Learning Objectives:
- Establish criteria of an effective learning methodology
- Recognize causal relationships between events, concepts and other information
- Identify and logically sequence key events and information
- Draw inferences/ assumptions from written--or oral-- information and prior knowledge
- Question and evaluate the validity of statements, assumptions and inferences, logical connections, opinions and conclusions
- Make predictions based on logic
- Derive main ideas, morals and themes in text
- Evaluate solutions to problems and create new ones
- Verbalize the sound reasoning of new knowledge and understanding
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies in logic in order to support a position or opinion
- Identify, categorize and logically retell key points within a problem situation clearly and succinctly
- Define a conflict, action or decision through two points of view in a simple, fair and non-provocative way (without blame)
- Identify and describe the deeper and broader perspectives of people involved in a problem or issue under discussion
- Interpret stated and implied information
- Differentiate between the concepts of wants and needs in a conflict or decision
- Intuitively identify break-through solutions, actions and decisions that do not compromise needs (win-win)
- Generate patterns within and across text to understand differing views and broader perspectives
- Organize and sequence actions and ideas using a prerequisite order
- Construct strategic plans
- Convert general or abstract ideas into specific actions
- Apply the TOC tools to vicariously experience the feelings, thoughts, and experience of others (empathy)
- Derive relevance of a subject under study to daily life
- Apply the concepts and ethical principles of Cloud, Logic Branch and Ambitious Target to responsible decision making and other authentic, real life situations (transfer of learning)
- Focus analysis and discussion on desired outcomes within text or topics under discussion
Qualification: Upon completion of 24 hours of TOCfE instruction, participants will receive a certificate stating they have successfully completed TOC Learning Connection training.
