(Addressing Resistance to Change)
24 Hours of TOCfE Instruction
Prerequisite: TOC Learning Connection Master Facilitator Certification
General Objective: To apply TOC Thinking Processes (CLOUD, Future Reality Tree, Negative Branch, Ambitious Target, Transition Tree and Categories of Legitimate Reservations) to engender support of ideas and actions from those critical to its success.
Specific Learning Objectives:
- Identify the layers of resistance to change in those critical to the success of a specific project or idea
- Construct a CLOUD to define the problem underlying a decision to accept or comply with an idea through the other side’s perspective
- Explain the logic underlying the need to get agreement on a problem before presenting solutions
- Expose assumptions underlying people’s resistance to change at various stages
- Question and evaluate assumptions and hypotheses
- Create breakthrough ideas and generate new patterns of thinking
- Predict positive outcomes of breakthrough ideas
- Predict negative outcomes of breakthrough ideas
- Construct a logic tree to check the validity of perceived predicted outcomes
- Identify and analyze the assumptions/inferences that explain the cause and effect connections between ideas and their outcomes
- Create new solutions that prevent negative consequences of ideas
- Derive alternative ways to achieve the positive effects of ideas
- Verbalize the improvements to the original idea that were created through the analysis
- Verbalize the sound reasoning of new knowledge and understanding
- Construct an effective strategic plan to implement the improved idea
- Construct a tactical plan that logically validates actions needed to implement the strategy
- Deepen mastery of CLOUD, Logic Branch, Ambitious Target, Transition Tree and CLR’s
- Explain the concept of un-verbalized fear as a layer of resistance to change
- Identify obstacles to addressing un-verbalized fear
- Identify some potential actions to address un-verbalized fear
- Explain how the ARC process of analysis can be transferred to other authentic applications
Qualification: Upon completion of 24 hours of instruction and a written case study that utilizes all 5 tools, participants will receive a certificate stating they have successfully completed this seminar.
